The Nepal Table Foosball Association (NTFA) proudly organized the Nepal Open ITSF Pro Tour 2024 from June 21–24, 2024, at Kathmandu FunLand, Bhadrakali, Kathmandu, marking one of the largest and most prestigious international table soccer tournaments ever held in Nepal.
Officially sanctioned by the International Table Soccer Federation (ITSF), the four-day tournament attracted 157 players from Nepal and abroad, providing participants with an opportunity to compete for valuable international ranking points while promoting friendship, sportsmanship, and cultural exchange through sport.
The tournament welcomed players from Nepal, India, Portugal, and the United Kingdom. A strong contingent of more than 40 players representing the National Table Soccer Federation of India travelled to Kathmandu to participate in the event, demonstrating the growing regional popularity of table soccer.
Adding international prestige to the tournament was the participation of Mr. Gonçalo Santos, an official representative of the International Table Soccer Federation (ITSF) from Portugal, who competed in the tournament and interacted with Nepali players throughout the event. The tournament was further enriched by the presence of a 75-year-old British Army veteran from the United Kingdom, whose passion and commitment to the sport inspired players of all ages.
The event brought together a diverse group of participants from educational institutions, sports clubs, corporate organizations, and community groups. Among the Nepali participants were players representing leading organizations and institutions including The CloudFactory, CodePixelz, Sankata Club, Kavya School, Mokshada School, Ganchen Samling School, Mahalaxmi Higher Secondary School (Lalitpur), Durbar High School, and Malpi City School.
One of the most heartwarming aspects of the tournament was the inclusion of 18 neurodivergent players, who competed in a dedicated special category. Their participation highlighted NTFA's commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunities in sports. Family members and parents enthusiastically joined the event to support and cheer for the participants, creating a truly inspiring atmosphere of encouragement and celebration.
The successful organization of the tournament was made possible through the generous support of several partners. Kathmandu FunLand served as the official venue partner, providing an excellent environment for international competition, while Kavya School supported the event as the official transportation partner.
As a gesture of appreciation and in recognition of Kathmandu FunLand's invaluable contribution to the success of the tournament, NTFA presented a brand-new Foosball table to Kathmandu FunLand. This symbolic gift reflected the strong partnership between the two organizations and their shared commitment to promoting table soccer in Nepal.
Throughout the tournament, players displayed exceptional skill, determination, and sportsmanship across multiple categories. The event not only enhanced the international rankings of participating players but also strengthened Nepal's reputation as an emerging destination for international table soccer competitions.
NTFA extends its sincere gratitude to all players, officials, volunteers, sponsors, partners, schools, clubs, parents, and supporters whose collective efforts made the Nepal Open ITSF Pro Tour 2024 a remarkable success. The association remains committed to expanding opportunities for athletes, promoting inclusive participation, and hosting world-class international competitions that contribute to the continued growth of table soccer in Nepal.
The Nepal Open ITSF Pro Tour 2024 stands as another significant milestone in the development of table soccer in Nepal and a testament to the country's growing role within the global table soccer community.
