The Nepal Table Foosball Association (NTFA) successfully organized the Nepal Open International Table Soccer Tournament 2026 from January 18–20, 2026, at The Excelsior School, bringing together players from Nepal and abroad for three days of exciting competition, learning, and cultural exchange.
The tournament attracted more than 100 players from Nepal, India, China, and the United States, competing across 12 different categories. As an event officially recognized by the International Table Soccer Federation (ITSF), participants had the opportunity to earn valuable ranking points and improve their global standings in the international table soccer ranking system.
One of the unique aspects of the tournament was its diverse participation. Alongside experienced athletes, the event featured enthusiastic school students from The Excelsior School, Niten Memorial School, and Malpi City School, who gained valuable exposure to international-level competition. The tournament also proudly included neurodivergent students from Navjyoti Kendra, reflecting NTFA's commitment to promoting inclusivity and ensuring that table soccer remains a sport accessible to everyone.
The event also witnessed strong participation from Nepal's corporate sector, with players representing leading organizations such as CloudFactory, CodePixelz, ISEC, Treez Resort, and AgroMart. Their involvement highlighted the growing popularity of table soccer as a recreational and competitive sport among working professionals.
A special highlight of the tournament was the participation of Karl Fleischer, a 66-year-old veteran foosball player from Colorado, USA, who travelled all the way to Nepal to compete in the event. His presence added prestige to the tournament and provided a rare opportunity for young Nepali players to interact with and learn from a seasoned international athlete. Throughout the event, Karl generously shared his experience, techniques, and passion for the sport, inspiring many of the next generation of players.
The tournament served not only as a competitive platform but also as a celebration of friendship, inclusion, and sportsmanship. Players from different countries, age groups, educational institutions, and professional backgrounds came together through their shared love for table soccer, creating an atmosphere of mutual respect and learning.
NTFA extends its heartfelt gratitude to all participating players, schools, corporate teams, volunteers, supporters, and partners whose contributions made the event a remarkable success. The association remains committed to expanding the sport across Nepal, creating opportunities for youth development, encouraging inclusivity, and hosting more internationally recognized competitions in the future.
The successful conclusion of the Nepal Open International Table Soccer Tournament 2026 marks another important milestone in Nepal's growing presence within the global table soccer community and reinforces the country's capability to host high-quality international sporting events.
